The 2020 NBA Draft Rundown: Power Forwards

Consider the redundant nature of a "big man" in today's NBA and perhaps you'll think the 4 and 5 spots should be now be condensed into one role. That said, I have divided them up because centres don't get the recognition they deserve (and despite making a top ten, it is likely that you won't see 10 true big men drafted this year)

Top Ten Power Forwards (aka big men who have shooting skill, or who are to shoot from 25 out)

  1. Obi Toppin, Dayton ::: my favourite player in college last year; he'll immediately be a 14 and 7 player with the upside of being a Tim Duncan one day; hating on him for his age is common, but his play is exceptional
  2. Patrick Williams, Florida State ::: a "project" as they say, but I really don't think so. He's young - he needs time to hone his game because I really don't think he's going to evolve beyond the dynamic defensive player with solid offensive play he already is; it'll just be about the amount of confidence the team that drafts him has in playing him plenty of early play in his career
  3. Aleksej Pokusevski, INTL. ::: interest has risen lately and you know, I expect him to be pretty good for his shooting, and maybe he’ll gain the weight everyone hopes, but even not the game isn't as physical as it was and he could flesh into a taller, less stoic Peja Stojakovic
  4. Jalen Smith, Maryland ::: one of the best two-way bigs in the draft; if he doesn't go higher it's because GMs are looking too much internationally or gambling too much with a picks 10-20.
  5. Precious Achiuwa, Memphis ::: don't know if he benefitted from Wiseman leaving the program or if teams think he has more to prove having seen him lead a team, but he has to develop more offensively; if he goes top 15 it proves Wiseman leaving helped him, but sucks for the team that picks him so high
  6. Reggie Perry, Mississippi State ::: better defensively than most players vying to get drafted, so don't know why he's projected so late...
  7. Xavier Tillman Sr., Michigan State
  8. Killian Tillie, Gonzaga
  9. Yoeli Childs. BYU ::: another one of my favourite players in the 2019-20 campaign, underrated for his age while many others aren't. Plus how long do you want your bigs to take to develop their strengths before putting them into your roster? There are myriad PGs with NBA experience you can start on your team while training your rookie to take over the reigns of such an important role: that that logic is reversed when it comes to draft philosophy and trajectory projections baffles me.
  10. Kenyon Martin Jr., IMG Academy (hopefully will have a career like Thad Young or even better, his dad, based on information on my end)
Players who will sign with one team or another, if not sneak into the second round of the 2020 NBA Draft:
  1. Naji Marshall, Xavier
  2. Paul Eboua, Intl.
  3. Lamar Stevens, Penn St.
