The 2020 NBA Draft Rundown: Point Guards

Largely thankful to two voices in particular - Jon Wasserman from Bleacher Report and Chad Ford. If you're reading this, odds are you know who they are, but if not, they are the two you should look to on draft speculation and reputable with their insider insight.

TOP TENS GOING INTO TONIGHT'S DRAFT

Before reading the following know that these rankings is malformed. It's a combination of what I hear experts are saying about hype regarding the 2020 NBA Draft and an interjection of my own personal bias because I really do value NCAA competitions and think very highly of the individuals who push themselves on college fields.

Top Ten Point Guards

  1. Tyrese Haliburton, Iowa St. ::: f*** me for doing a comparable, but think Damian Lillard, the closest thing to an all-star PG based on his college performance
  2. Lamelo Ball, INTL. ::: he has some qualities that make him a great potential player but so does Karim Mane, so this is a generous spot, but basically a top-5 placeholder because everyone says so
  3. Kira Lewis Jr., Alabama ::: been bias since I like Bama's backcourt and think they've been blessed since Collin Sexton. He and Ball and Hayes could also be all-stars someday
  4. Killan Hayes, INTL. ::: watched some YouTube clips, unlike Ball whom I caught start In a few mildly impressive games, but know he's an American-born kid who grew up in Europe and has been playing competitively for a couple years now
  5. Cole Anthony, North Carolina ::: he can't be that far off from a top-15 pick after being so highly touted before his lackluster year with the Tar Heel. And honestly, he wasn't even that bad if you watch him -- he made games exciting, but someone had to teach him to make the first pass well-sooner than he is inclined. Actually put him in the "might be an all-star" class. In fact an old note I came across before hitting 'publish' reads: I don’t care what his one NCAA season says - he’s as likely to be an all-star player in 3 years...
  6. Markus Howard, Marquette ::: at 21 years old, he's the youngest senior in the draft and younger than sophomore Obi Toppin (amazing player btw). Don’t know how he’s gone unsung by prognosticators the way he has - he’s an amazing scoring point guard with solid passing vision.
  7. Tre Jones, Duke ::: was lighting it up before the abrupt end to the season—before that run I had him mid-second
  8. Malachi Flynn, San Diego State ::: I was asking myself why he had no love back in January and now he’s a first round pick? Don't buy it, he'll go after Jones
  9. Devon Dotson, Kansas ::: he and Azeibuke carried the Jayhawks this year
  10. Nico Mannion, Arizona ::: had a spotty year on Arizona but with three players certain to be drafted it was a wonky team with unwieldy chemistry to begin, like Oregon when Brooks, Bol and Pritchard all played together
Other possible draft picks, but if they aren't expect them to play somewhere this year.
  1. Cassius Stanley, Duke
  2. Payton Pritchard, Oregon
  3. Grant Riller, Charleston
  4. Cassius Winston, Mich St.
  5. Abdoulaye N’Doye FRA
  6. Ashton Hagans, Kentucky
  7. Yam Madar ISR
  8. Sam Merrill, Utah St.
  9. Colbey Ross, Pepperdine
